The "Ashville Class" Missle Patrol Gun Boats (PGM) Antelope (PGM-86)  and Ready (PGM-87) docked just outside entrance to Panama Canal at Balboa. These ships were capable of 35+ knot speeds but because of their limited range, followed us from Long Beach, through the locks, across the Carribbean and back to NAB Little Creek. We refueled them every other day via UNREP.
