On May 6, 2004, my wife and I visited the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, for the first time. In addition to the Arizona Memorial, the battleship USS Missouri (BB63), visible over my left shoulder, is now moored next to the Arizona as a floating museum.

Inside the memorial, at the wall listing all those who were lost that day, I left a LST-1197 ballcap with the following inscripton inside:

"Rest in Peace, from all the crewmen of the USS Barnstable County"
